The Seattle Supersonics Zip Towards a Second NBA Championship

We live in a super world. There is the super-size meal, the Super Duper Looper roller coaster, Superman, Superwoman, and even Superdog. Meanwhile, the NBA has the Seattle Supersonics. For over three decades, the Supersonics has represented Seattle. While the team’s most super season was 1978-1979, the Supersonics are always striving to win yet another NBA Finals.

The 1967-1968 season was the Seattle Supersonics’ first campaign in the NBA. They would be one of the NBA’s pair of new expansion teams. The name “Supersonics” referred to Seattle’s aerospace industry, and particularly to the Supersonic Transport (SST). A supersonic aircraft can travel quicker than the speed of sound. The first season of the Sonics was rough, as they finished with a 23-59 record.

A decade after entering the NBA, the Sonics had a new head coach (Bob Hopkins) and several new players for the 1977-1978 season. They finished the regular season with an admirable

Basketball wagering

Basketball wagering

Basketball wagering can come in many forms. You can make betting on the MVP race a part of your basketball wagering portfolio. I’m sure plenty of people were upset by the fact that Michael Jordan lost the Most Valuable Award to Karl Malone in 1996 and they probably lost some money off of it as well. It is very exciting to see upsets in the NBA Playoff like the majestic run that the Denver Nuggets went on as the number eight seed knocking off the number one seed in the 1993 playoffs. The euphoria on Dikembe Mutumbo and LaPhonso Ellis’s face could only be matched by the disappointment on the faces of Shawn Kemp, Gary Payton and George Karl. It is an interesting question as to how many of the pros of basketball wagering would have been able to predict the outcome of that series.

Basketball wagering can be tough to do because a team like Jim Valvano’s 1983 National Championship team that barely received a bid into the NCAA can actually pull off a monumental

April 23, 2008 The Denver Nuggets were right on the Los Angeles Lakers’ heels when Kobe Bryant suddenly got hot. Oh, did he get hot. Bryant scored 19 points in a span of 4:19 of the fourth quarter Wednesday night, and the Lakers beat the Nuggets 122-107 to take a 2-0 lead in their first-round playoff series. Games 3 and 4 will be in Denver on Saturday and Monday night. Bryant finished with 49 points and 10 assists – one shy of his career playoff high in both categories. “Tonight, the way he was going, we probably could have put 10 people on the court and probably wouldn’t have been able to stop him,” said Nuggets star Allen Iverson, who wasn’t bad himself, getting 31 points and six assists. “I didn’t realize it,” Bryant said when told about his scoring spree. “You just get into one of those rhythms. My teammates were looking for me, it just feels like the ball finds you.” The Lakers led 89-79 entering the fourth quarter. The Nuggets drew within five points three times before a three-point play by Bryant with 6:41 remaining made it 101-93. That was only the beginning. Two free throws by Bryant in a span of two seconds after technical fouls against JR Smith and Iverson made it 105-94 with 5:37 left, and Bryant added a 3-pointer 18 seconds later to extend the Los Angeles lead to 14. Game over. “The 3-ball he made was the big play,” Nuggets coach George Karl said. “I thought that kind of ended the game from the standpoint of our spirit. In a lot of ways, a great player

NY Knicks

The New York Knicks have been one of the more troubled franchises for a long time.  The advantages they have as far as being one of the more financially viable teams and playing in one of the largest media markets in the world have not been used to their fullest.  There have been many problems keeping the Knicks from success:  unstable coaching, inconsistent player performance, front office indecision, and more.  But, one thing that stands out is the Knicks lack of ability to get good players through the draft.  Here we’ll look at the last ten years of New York Knicks draft picks.

1998
The 1998 NBA Draft had the Knicks using two second round picks, the first on forward DeMarco Johnson from UNC-Charlotte and the second on center Sean Marks from New Zealand by way of the University of California.  Johnson’s NBA career lasted all of five games, while Marks has served the last ten years as a journeyman backup center for four

Who will emerge as the Best in the West

In the various results recorded in the thirteen NBA games played last night, the middle of the conference table standings was the only part where things were really shaken up. No team has succeeded in its quest to infiltrate the top of the conference standings. Two of current big four, the Boston Celtics and the Phoenix Suns, won their matches convincingly against the Utah Jazz and the New Orleans Hornets respectively.

In the Eastern Conference, the Orlando Magic one of the three teams providing a credible chase for the big four failed to capitalize their upward surge when they succumbed a home loss, the Cleveland Cavaliers delivering the devastating blow. The chasing pack now has the Atlanta Hawks and the Milwaukee Backs. The Hawks will not wait for too to long since their next match will be at the Celtics backyard.

All the chasing packs in the Western Conference sadly lost their matches. The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Dallas Mavericks while

Some of the unforgettable moments recorded in the first quarter of this season included:

Why the Spurs footsteps have gotten louder

The second quarter of the 2009-2010 NBA season is providing a lot of intrigue, the most obvious one being witnessed at the Eastern Conference. Thanks to the San Antonio Spurs recent impressive results, the Western Conference is showing signs and symptoms of joining the unpredictable twists and turns.

The Spurs are currently occupying the third position in the Western Conference and their marching footsteps are inching them closer and closer to the top. Currently, they are enjoying a five game winning streak, which is the best in the West and second in the whole league.

The way the Spurs have silently emerged is something that many people didn’t see it coming, myself included. Probably this is because a lot of attention in the West has been given to the Lakers, the Phoenix Suns and the Denver Nuggets. Although the Spurs are a bit far from their usual best, they cannot be written off by anyone.

Unlike last season where the Spurs had a

About Air Jordan XX2/XXII(22)

About Air Jordan XX2/XXII(22)

The Air Jordan XX2/XXII model, designed by Dwayne Edwards, was released on March 24, 2007. Its original retail price was 5 but has declined. The aggressive and sharp design was inspired by the F-22 Raptor fighter jet. Some technical features of the shoe include an updated visible, interchangeable independent podular system, a new metallic mesh for ventilation, the Air Jordan camouflage pattern printed in reflective 3M, and an updated traction system, based on an army general’s stripes.

Inspired by the art of industrial design off the court, like a previous model designed after the P-51 Mustang, the XXII takes its lead from one of the most advanced fighter jets in the world, the F-22 Raptor. It’s no surprise this stealth jet was chosen to represent the 22nd shoe given its (F-22 name) incredible speed and extreme maneuverability; features that enabled his Airness to dominate the game at both ends of the court for years. The AJ
