Tips for Betting on the NBA

The National Basketball League tips off another season Oct. 31 with both bet makers and bet takers sifting through the debris of last year’s results in hopes of finding NBA betting clues to the upcoming campaign.

From a wagering standpoint, the most important thing to know is that oddsmakers approach the NBA a bit differently than they do most other major sports, relying far less on Power Ratings, the numbers that form the price-making building blocks. There are several unique aspects to the NBA game that limit the effectiveness of Power Ratings:

Schedule: In order to keep travel costs down, NBA teams often embark on lengthy road trips. How far a team has to travel, how many time zones the players cross and how many games they’re forced to play in a short time frame are crucial factors. A team in the east usually has a very difficult time negotiating a swing through Texas that includes three games in four nights in Dallas, Houston and San

Denver fired Westhead prior to the 1992-1993 season and hired ABA legend and former Nugget Player Dan Issel. The Nuggets had two lottery picks that year and drafted University of Notre Dame forward LaPhonso Ellis and University of Virginia guard Bryant Stith. Denver improved to 36-46, just missing the playoffs that year. Denver ditched their rainbow colors for a dark blue and gold scheme starting in the 1993-1994 season. Led by Mutombo, Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf (who changed his name from Chris Jackson prior to the season), and Ellis, Denver would finish with its first winning season since the Doug Moe era at 42-40. Denver clinched the 8th seed in the Western Conference playoffs, playing the first place Seattle SuperSonics. Denver was a heavy underdog, having only a couple of players on their roster with actual NBA playoff experience. After dropping the first two games of the five game set in Seattle, the series returned to Denver. Denver won both games and tied the series at two games apiece. The Nuggets would make NBA history in Game 5, upsetting Seattle in overtime 98-94. They became the first 8th seeded team to defeat a 1st seeded team in NBA playoff history. Denver would almost do the same in the next round, falling to the Utah Jazz in game seven of the second round.

Holidays In Breckenridge

With breathtaking views and historic elegance, the Victorian town of Breckenridge stands tall in the heart of the Rocky Mountains in the state of Colorado. Being in near proximity to Denver makes it an easily accessible and preferred vacationing town for national and international visitors year after year.

Breckenridge was founded in 1859 and is famous for the Tom’s Baby – a gold nugget found in 1887 by Tom Groves. This led to the Gold Rush and Breckenridge was thoroughly ruined as any other mining town in those times. After the rush was over in the early 1900′s, Breckenridge was ignored apart from a few tenacious villagers that decided to stay.

Around the 1960′s, Breckenridge was rediscovered by a company called Wichita, that started developing Peak 8 for skiing trails and offered daily rates of . This led to the discovery of the 2000 odd natural, snowy and most suited terrain for skiing. Today the Breckenridge ski resort boasts of about 150 trails

Brawls In The NBA

Brawls In The NBA

Basketball is a very exciting sport to watch, and NBA basketball is among the absolute best. The high-scoring games and the high-flying dunks-even the way that they hang in the air in order to get off a shot, all add to the game’s excitement. But sometimes, though, something happens during an NBA basketball game that you as a fan, can not control. Sometimes the players become so angry with one another during a game that things escalate from a simple heated argument, to a full-fledged fist fight, right on the court. These brawls can even get so out of hand that they spill into the stands, where the fans are.

Many people wonder how these brawls begin, and most of the time, the losing team starts them. Even though it’s usually the losing team that starts them, it is sometimes the winning one. The winning team will taunt the other team, causing the losing team to became angry and retaliate by what they call a hard foul. Like when Ben Wallace and Ron Artest

Has European Professional Basketball Caught Up to the Nba?

Contrary to conventional wisdom, U.S. pro basketball squads and Euroleague teams have been actively competing for the past 20 years in head-to-head competition other than at the Olympics. Way back in 1987 the Milwaukee Bucks beat Tracer Milan of Italy, 123-111, in the opening game of the initial McDonald’s Open, held at the Milwaukee Arena. The Bucks beat the Soviet National Team, 127-100, in the championship game of the tournament sanctioned by the NBA and FIBA.

The next year, in the inaugural McDonald’s Championship to be held in Europe, the Boston Celtics vanquished Real Madrid 111-96 at the Palacio de Deportes in Madrid, Spain.

Also in 1988, the Atlanta Hawks became the first U.S. pro team to play in the Soviet Union when they defeated the Soviet Georgia All-Stars, 85-84, in an exhibition game.

By the third year, the McDonald’s Championship moved to Rome, Italy. There, the Denver Nuggets represented the NBA

NBA Future Odds Update

By Sonny Palermo, www.BetRepublic.com

A look at players listed in the box score from the loss to the Magic shows just three players remaining from the Cleveland Cavaliers NBA championship runner up team from the 2006-2007 season: Daniel Gibson, Anderson Varejo and that other guy.

And the only starter on rosters from both editions is that other guy.

In the time between the two versions of Cavs, the team has made a lot of moves to find the missing pieces of the Championship puzzle to compliment that other guy – LeBron, and to keep him from testing the free agency waters.

After failing to San Antonio in the finals that year, the Cavs were eliminated by the Celtics in the next post season, and last year they couldn’t get past the Magic.  Orlando has always been a tough team for the Cavs, matchup-wise, and so this recent edition of Cavs was built specifically to overcome that obstacle.
