In a Back and Forth Series, the Lakers Take Game 3

In a Back and Forth Series, the Lakers Take Game 3

The Lakers-Nuggets saga continued on Saturday in Denver, the Mile-High City. The game came just two days after the Lakers suffered a devastating – and embarrassing – loss to the Denver team on Thursday, with the Nuggets eager to establish a lead in the series on Saturday.

The Nuggets, however, failed.

The Lakers took Game 3 at 103-97, gaining a 2-1 lead in the series and regaining a home-court advantage.

The loss came as a tremendous disappointment to the Nuggets. The team entered the game with high expectations and strong emotions, a dangerous combination that led to Denver’s implosion over the weekend.

The team would accumulate three technical fouls on Saturday. The first came just seconds before the end of the second quarter, called on Linas Kleiza after the Lakers’ Trevor Ariza made a 25-foot 3-pointer. Then Anthony Carter made the Nuggets’ second immediately after his teammate J.R. Smith made a 24-foot 3-pointer.

Chances for Winning by the Losers

Chances for Winning by the Losers

In baseball, it has come close (see 2005 San Diego Padres, 1973 NY Mets). In the NFL, only two .500 teams have made the playoffs since 1991 (1991 NYJ, 2004 STL). In the NBA, however, it has been the norm to find teams with a losing record compete in late April and into May.

Below, a table of the number of .500 win percentage teams, the number of first round games they have won, and the number of series they have gone on to win.

Nba- Iverson Going Through Difficult Times

The past few months have been rough on Allen Iverson. Last week, the Philadelphia 76ers announced that Iverson would not be playing for the rest of the season. On the same day, his wife filed for divorce. This week, it has been revealed that the player has an addiction to alcohol and gambling, putting both his personal and professional life in danger.

Iverson was absent from most of the 76ers regular season games; his 4-year-old daughter, Messiah, was diagnosed with an undisclosed disease early this year and has been ill for some time now. During practice, Iverson said that it was difficult to leave his wife and his children, even for work.

In filing for divorce, Iverson’s wife, Tawanna, stated that her marriage was broken and asked for full custody of their five children. The youngest child is 17 months; the oldest, 15 years.

Iverson’s personal situation had become problematic for his basketball career, becoming a distraction for the team. The

Nba Playoff Tickets – Western Conference Contenders

Here are the teams that I see as having a legitimate shot to win the Western Conference title for the 2009-10 NBA season, as of March 2nd.

Los Angeles Lakers: They haven’t been as dominant as they were earlier in the season, but they’re still the favorite in the conference.  Kobe Bryant has experienced some injuries, but he’s not going to let anything cause him to miss much time unless it’s really serious.  Pau Gasol continues to fly under the radar for the most part as one of the best bigs in the game.  The best thing the Lakers have going for them is their size.  With guys like Gasol, Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom all capable of being on the floor at one time, the Lakers are able to overwhelm other teams with their size.

They’ve got the best coach in the league, probably in the history if the game, and are going to be incredibly difficult to beat four times in seven games.  There’s a reason that NBA Playoff tickets to see them play are so difficult to come

Miami Heat – The Early Years

Miami Heat – The Early Years

During the boom period of the NBA of the 1980s the league sought to expand itself from 23 teams to 26 by the end of the decade. In Florida, a state devoid of any NBA franchises, groups from Orlando, Tampa/St. Petersburg and Miami all vied to land franchises.

The Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority eventually endorsed a group led by NBA Hall of Famer Billy Cunningham and former sports agent (and lifelong friend of Cunningham’s) Lewis Schaffel, who received their financial backing from Carnival Cruise Lines tycoon Ted Arison, who would be the majority shareholder of a potential franchise but defer the day-to-day operations to minority shareholders Cunningham and Schaffel.

In April 1987, the NBA expansion committee endorsed the bids of the cities of Charlotte and Minneapolis. However, the committee was split between awarding the third and final franchise to Miami or Orlando, causing representatives from both cities to toss barbs at the

NBA Playoff Tickets ? Western Conference First Round Predictions

(1) Los Angeles Lakers vs. (8) Oklahoma City Thunder: My best guess to how this series unfolds is that the Thunder come out in game one and get rocked due to youthful jitters in their first playoff game.  I think they’ll steal Game 2 by outhustling the Lakers and will end up taking the series to six games.  It’s extremely difficult to see the Thunder actually pulling off the upset here, but I have to leave just a tiny bit of room for the possibility because of Kevin Durant.  He’s destined to go down as one of the most prolific scorers we’ve ever seen, and he’s 21.  If he puts up 40 in a few games, the Thunder could pull this thing off, but I don’t think he can do it.  Even Durant will be too pumped up for Game 1 and I don’t think the supporting cast is there yet.  It will be interesting to see how well Serge Ibaka can contain Pau Gasol, though.  Prediction: Los Angeles in Six.

(2) Dallas Mavericks vs. (7) San Antonio Spurs: I really like both of these

Ginobili Returns to the Spurs

Ginobili Returns to the Spurs

With Ginóbili’s return, the Spurs will certainly lit up their NBA champions’ goal. The Argentinean scored 23 points including 12 in the last quarter while Tim Duncan added 17 points and the French Tony Parker scored 26 points on Sunday’s victory over Los Angeles Clippers 88-82.

Ginóbili was not present in five games due to a left-hand finger twist. For this past game, he played with his hand bandaged to protect his injury.

“I felt well during all the game. Simply I did not do the shots that I’m used to do, but I should be patient and let this happen by itself”, said the Argentinean who got five of 12 shots from the perimeter and 12 of 13 from the punishment line.

The Spurs begun the season with a 17-3 record and they had a record of 6-6 in their last 12 games; due to this figures Coach Duncan was happy to have Ginóbili return.

“He is our specialist in finishing the games, and a great

Best Looking Jerseys in Sports

Although there are so many sports that have jerseys with various colors and designs, there are some specific ones that are considered the best looking jerseys in sports. The league of the NBA, in particular, has some very cool jerseys. But, out of 30 great teams and jerseys to pick from, how is it possible to pick the five best? It’s quite difficult, but here are the five jerseys that stand out among the numerous different jerseys spread out among different sports.

The first NBA team that has a snazzy jersey is the Phoenix Suns. Two of the three Phoenix jerseys have flash silver sides and either an orange or purple center. The third jersey has a white center and shiny purple sides. The best part about the Phoenix Suns jerseys is the sides. No matter what color it is, the sides are very showy while still managing to mix well with the other colors on the jersey.

The Boston Celtics and their unique green jerseys creates a set of appealing products.

Cavaliers Tickets – Watch the Cavs Battle it Out for the Playoffs

In the 2007-2008 season Cavaliers tickets are going to be one of the most sought after tickets in the NBA. This is mainly because they have Lebron James on their side and fans love watching this young man play. Lebron is nicknamed as “King James”. This is due to fact that he is so amazing on court, has an unbeatable offensive attack and has superior athleticism.

About The Cavaliers

Cleveland Cavaliers is part of the Eastern Conference of the Central Division. Wine, Gold, Navy Blue, and White are the team’s colors. In the initial years, the Cavaliers played their home games at the Cleveland Arena. In 1994, they shifted to their new home, Quicken Loans Arena, which was formerly known as the Gund Arena.

The Cavs, as they are popularly called, entered the NBA league in 1970. They did not really have a great start that the fans were hoping for. After just making to one Conference Finals in their initial period,
